On September 16th, 2015, the Hope – Jackson Fire Company participated in a Mock MVA for the Scituate Police Department’s Annual Citizen’s Police Academy.
Two vehicles were donated by Hall’s Garage and arranged at the Hope Park to resemble an accident scene, with a “victim” trapped in each of the vehicles. Members demonstrated vehicle stabilization, extrication techniques, and patient care as the victims were removed from their vehicles and prepared for transport. Participants in the academy were able to see two methods of transport to the hospital; ground transport via ambulance, as well as air transport via helicopter thanks to UMass Memorial Life Flight.
